The Migrant Crisis threatens the European Union with rising intolerance, disintegration and violence.

Driven by disillusionment, revenge, and a lack of faith in existing migration policies, The Council wields an horrific deterrent to the problem: an ethnic bio-weapon code-named Diablo.

FBI agent, Kirk Ingram stumbles upon their heinous scheme and is in a race against the clock to stop the genocide, even if he has been ordered to stand-down.

But when Diablo is seized by the United States and Ingram is framed by the Defence Intelligence Agency, he must join forces with The Council to prevent an even greater atrocity from being unleashed upon the world.

Conspiracy

Conspiracy theorists maintain that the rich elite of the world meet regularly to discuss the 'population problem'. Their discussions revolve around two major goals: How to reduce unwanted population groups, and, How to retain socio-economic superiority. Their schemes are implemented via mass-sterilisation through food distribution, education and family planning, under the aegis of philanthropy. 

Until recently, the elite have been geographically removed from the problem. The Migrant Crisis now brings the problem to their shores in the thousands. How will these elitists react?

A loophole in the Biological Weapons Convention allows nations and defence contractors to engineer offsenvie biological agents. Nanobiotechnology has made amazing... and dangerous advances. Engineering a specific behaviour into a virus or radio-controlling genes is within our grasp.

Anti-Poaching Drones by Robert Chew

Kenya Wildlife Services is tasked with protecting 8% of Kenya's total landmass. That is around 46 thousand square kilometers - 39 national reserves. As one can imagine, KWS is stretched-thin from a budgetary, man-power and intelligence perspective. Dwindling animal populations have stressed the urgency of more effective conservation programs. 

Drone technology is being heralded as the answer to budget-strapped wildlife conservation programs.

Conservation programs are turning toward aerial drone technology to locate poacher hide-outs, errant animal populations and preempt poaching attacks. My idea for the ASPS - Advanced Sentinel Program Systems started out with re-imagining the drones as a networked army of on-ground robots, heavily armed to protect animals and take down poachers - with deadly force, if necessary. From there, I moved on to predator-based drones - big cats, to be more specific. During my online research, I came upon concept-artwork for anti-poaching drones by Robert Chew.

If Diablo ever gets made into a movie, I'd like Robert Chew to work on the concept artwork.  

If drones can protect wildlife, how long will it be before drones are used for human protection? Which VIP would not want a life-size lion drone as his personal guard?

Baikonur Cosmodrome

One minute after I had decided on a killer satellite, I knew that the book had to feature an action sequence at a space port.

BaikonurBaikonur Cosmodrome, re purposed from its Cold War-era function as a test and launch facility for ballistic missiles, to its modern-day function as a space port for launching commercial and scientific satellites, and supplying the International Space Station, beckoned with open arms.

The Cosmodrome is located deep in the Kazakh steppe and is not advertised or commercialised as much as the American NASA. Researching Baikonur was a beast: I had to grasp at straws of information - some of it in Cyrillic - in my quest to ground everything in reality to the best of my ability. But I can't complain - that's the journey of an author. Finally, I had it: from numerous sources, the scraps of information came together and coalesced into a solid background for the finale.

I believe even photographs of Baikonur can inspire a story. Take a look.

Spaceplane

Commercial space tourism is pushing the boundaries in aeronautic and space-plane technology. If the modern combat jet is an evolutionary offshoot of commercial aviation, how far are we from a combat-ready spaceplane?
